BodyMouth (2024) - How It Works
BodyMouth is a bespoke computational sound / movement tool created by Kat Mustatea that turns the body into an instrument for speech. Wearing sensors on various body parts, a dancer sounds out words phoneme-by-phoneme by performing specific gestures in sequence, as if the body is quite literally turned into a mouth. BodyMouth was a finalist for the 2024 Guthman Prize for New Musical Instruments and the 2024 Lumen Prize for new media art.
